Marketing Manager
Be the marketing leader who puts Inkle on the map for every US preseed startup. Own demandgen, brand, SEO, and grow a high-impact team with the CEO.
About Inkle:
Inkle is a US tax & accounting software startup based in San Francisco and Bangalore. We exclusively serve US technology startups. We're on a mission to make accounting, tax and compliance easy, scalable, affordable and on-demand for US-registered companies - using software and human services. We are a team of passionate and creative individuals who believe in the power of technology to simplify complex processes. Inkle launched in 2022, and already serves well over 500 US companies, and we’re growing fast. We’re backed by leading global VC funds.
About the team and this role:
This role reports directly to the CEO. One phrase describes this role: inbound demandgen. Outbound email/calling/messaging will be handled by the sales team. Your focus will be to make it so that a good chunk of all US preseed startups have heard of Inkle’s brand within 12-24 months. You will own brand visibility, lead generation and SEO/AEO. This is a massively impactful charter and you’ll be one of the top employees in the company. You will have a team of 3-4 initially, and it will grow over time. As overall owner, you’ll be accountable for all marketing, and need to delegate prolifically.
Responsibilities:
- Overall strategic marketing planning: developing marketing strategies that align with Inkle's goals and target audience of early-stage tech companies. Do this by analysing market trends, competition, and customer behavior and then careful product positioning.
- Demand generation: overseeing the creation and execution of campaigns to drive customer acquisition, engagement, and retention.
- AI and technology: own the stack. Harness AI to the max to make life easier for yourself and the team and work at great speed.
- Content creation and calendar ownership: overseeing creation, editing, and curating content, ads, landing pages, and email.
- SEO orchestration: take full ownership of SEO, SEM and GEO, and harness an army of external content writers at scale. Oversee creation of blogs, case studies, whitepapers, product content and thought-leadership content tailored for the B2B SaaS audience.
- Analytics & Reporting: track campaign performance, monitor KPIs, and report on ROI to leadership.
- Social media and reviews: own our social media presence and reviews presence, and ensure posting and responses.
- Budget management: setting KPIs and targets for the 5+ member marketing team, and forecasting and owning the budget needed to deliver them
- Performance Marketing: manage paid campaigns (Google Ads, LinkedIn, etc.) with an initial limited budget.
- Events: oversee planning of execution of events, materials, swag and more.
- Team building: Building, managing, and mentoring a high-performing marketing team, providing leadership, guidance, and professional development opportunities.
- Team collaboration: Work closely with sales, product, and customer success teams to align marketing initiatives with business goals.
Who we’re looking for:
- 5–8 years of B2B marketing experience (preferably in SaaS or technology sector). Familiarity with the US market and B2B buyer journey is a strong plus.
- Team management experience, and in project management and driving individual performance.
- Strong background in demand generation, digital marketing, and content strategy.
- Hands-on experience with marketing automation tools and CRMs (Hubspot, Clay, Webflow, Semrush etc).
- AI tool leverage is critical here - speed is of the essence, and you must be comfortable using AI tools to get even faster.
- Extreme proactiveness. This is the number one trait we’re looking for. We will not micromanage you - you must be a complete self-starter, and make yourself super busy and just take care of things without being asked.
- Very high attention to detail. This is super important.
- Communication is key: you’ll need very strong English (written and spoken) and absolute willingness to overcommunicate without being asked.
- Great at cultivating and maintaining relationships across cultures and different time zones.
- Strong event organisation skills.
- Travel when required in India and the US, but based in Bengaluru.
- Working hours: Monday - Friday, based in our Bengaluru office, you’ll hopefully be fine to work afternoons until late nights, in order to collaborate with our SF office and customers/partners.
